Katie Davison
Team Leader

Katie grew up swimming and over time has grown extremely passionate about the sport. When she moved to the Northern VA area in 2004 she got involved in triathlon and soon after made it her lifestyle. She is currently an interactive developer for OSD Studios in Chantilly, VA. Katie also coaches the TriMasters, a masters swim and triathlon team. Some of her other interests include: meteorology, art, music/dancing, and wine-tasting. Katie is honored to be part of Team Luna Chix and to be able to share her passion with other women.

Julie Clark

Julie C. lives in Reston, VA with her husband Shawn and German Shepherd Kayla. In high school and college, she ran cross country and track, but didn’t continue to run following graduation. After a long stint of relative inactivity, got off the couch and completed races from 5k to her first marathon in March 2008. Because of an injury, 2008 will be her first tri season. As a triathlon newbie, Julie is looking forward to igniting the triathlon spark in others as it has started in herself through her involvement with Team LunaChix. When not participating in or spectating triathlons and road races, she enjoys being a social person, pretty much anything outdoors and the occasional game of disc golf.

Bevin Keen

Formerly a NCAA swimmer and cross-country runner, Bevin came to the sport of triathlon in 1998 while at the Naval Academy. She has raced distances ranging from mini-tri to half Ironman, achieving All American (HM) honors three times in 2004, 2005, 2006. While currently employed as a US Marine, she enjoys coaching (swimming, bike safety, and triathlon) and volunteering (Girl Scouts) in her spare time. After triathlon coaching Team in Training in 2006, she was thrilled to get the opportunity to become the Team Leader for Team Luna Chix in 2007, as a way to further the women triathlon community in the DC area.

KC Lawler

New to the sport last year, KC completed her first olympic distance triathlon with the help of Team in Training. Once hooked, she dove in and enjoys both sprint and olympic races. Although a swimmer in high school she turned to her other passions of crew in college then later hiking and rock climbing. She currently coaches a high school learn-to-row program among her many other responsibilties as a teacher. So she's been from swimming to crew, hiking to climbing, but now it's all about the bike and endurance and she's loving it, especially with help and encouragement from her LUNA teammates.

Andrea Emshoff Nelson

Andie lives in Arlington, VA with her husband Brett. She grew up in Chicago, and did her first triathlon there in 2001. She has since completed 13 marathons, 3 Ironman triathlons, and a number of sprint, olympic and half-iron triathlons. Andie is thrilled to be a member of Team LunaChix as she loves introducing new women to the sport of triathlon. She is especially proud that her love of the sport has influenced her parents' fitness goals. Her dad, who is 65, will be biking across the country this summer and her mom will run her first 5k at age 62. In her non-triathlon free time, Andie enjoys cooking, playing golf with Brett, and traveling.

Laura Novak

Laura participated in her first triathlon in 2004 after a co-worker essentially dared her to do it. Even before doing the actual race she was hooked on the sport. Triathlons have now become a very important part of her life; and though she will probably never be a podium finisher, triathlons spark an internal competitiveness where in each race she strives to better than the last. When Laura is not swimming, biking or running she is usually doing something with her three boys and her husband. And in her spare time she is the PTA president and an assistant coach for flag football and baseball. During the week, Laura is the Director of the Risk Management for AvalonBay, a real estate investment trust.

Emily Trakas

Emily grew up swimming competitively in Northern Virginia, earning herself a scholarship to swim at UVA where she was an Division I NCAA All-American. Her passion for health and exercise, and her love for competition, eventually led her to Triathlons. She enjoys Sprint and Olympic/International distances, and hopes to one day complete a Half or Full Ironman! Emily is thrilled to be a member of Luna Chix DC; a team of great women for a wonderful cause. She loves the water, the mountains, yoga, vanilla bean ice cream and the color pink. She is inspired by her Mom and favorite race partner, Linda. Emily's mantra: Stand Tall and LiveStrong!

Cris Turney

Cris started triathlon last season after one of her childhood friends encouraged her to do a Danskin all-women's race in Denver. Cris got hooked immediately and completed two more races that year, bringing other first-time triathletes to each one. Before she started racing she "dabbled" in each of the three disciplines, but never competed or even really worked out consistently in any of them. Her favorite part of the sport is cheering on the other participants and meeting new training partners and she's especially excited about LunaChix workouts with other new triathletes. Cris' other interests include hiking with her big yellow dog and knitting.
